The painting depicts the class of OK dinghies racing around the mark off Black Rock in Port Phillip Bay in the mid 1960s. This one man dinghy class was designed to train Finn skippers with a similar unstayed mast and substantial sail area. It was one of the early self righting dinghies and is still raced widely with classes around the world
